Invasion of the Space Squirrels – August BARKBOX

Happy Friday y’all! I tried to post this yesterday, but something happened and you couldn’t see my post just the title. But I’m not going to let that get me down because today is the start of high school football for the school I coach at and there is nothing I love more than those Friday Night lights (ahh the memories that come flooding back)!! But that’s a conversation for another day, let’s talk about the box I’m going to be reviewing today.

Ok, so I got my August Barkbox last week. I’m still loving this box (it’s super convenient and I don’t have to go to the pet store for toys/treats) and Bella loves it even more since it’s for her! Even Kodiak wanted in the action this month.

Barkbox is a monthly subscription box just for dogs. Each box has 4-6 dog products and is customized to the size of your pup, plus there is a new, cute theme every month. Bella is a cairn terrier that I adopted from the shelter as a puppy, so I chose the “Small & Cute” size (0-20lbs). You can choose to just buy 1 month for $29, 6 months for $25/box or 12 months for $21/box.

For August, the theme was: OUTER SPACE (which fit perfectly with the Eclipse we witnessed on Monday)

Here is a BREAKDOWN of the goodies in my box:

Tranquilized Trudy Space Squirrel – Value = $8.00

Bella dove right in the box to snatch this toy up and then ran away with it…5 minutes later I find her in my parent’s room with 2 legs chewed off already (this is the reason I get her a box every month…to destroy toys). This toy is perfect because the squeak isn’t too loud and it’s not super annoying when she walks around the house squeaking it at all hours! I usually let her play with toys until there is no more stuffing in it and is completely destroyed.

Bark Side of the Moon Treats – Value = $6.00

These treats are made in the USA without any grain, wheat, corn, or soy, these treats are perfect for any pooch parent who doesn’t want to worry about wacky fillers or artificial preservatives. Made with delicious chicken and natural cheese flavor! Both Bella and Kodiak LOVED these! They’re super cute treats because they’re shaped like the moon. These got a 2 paws up from my pups.

Crumps naturals Salmon Snaps – Value = $8.00

These treats are made in Canada with wild caught pacific salmon and are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids. Feel good about giving your pup a taste of the sea for a treat or snack because these snaps are wheat-free and made without any dyes, fillers, or preservatives. Kodiak LOVES all food/snacks that taste like salmon so he was in doggy heaven when I gave him one of these!

    Chew F.O. –Value = $8.00

No longer unidentified, this Chew F.O. is known for close encounters of the furred kind. It’s stuffed with our satisfying deep disc squeaker. The fuzzy blue tail makes for splendid shredding or thrashing. Also great for a game of fetch, your pup will want you to be the constant tosser for this saucer. This toy is great for mid-sized and small pups!

Sawmill Creek Smokehouse Pig Ear Chew –Retail Value = $3.00

I couldn’t find the exact one that was in my box, but I linked the 10 pack version. Your mutt will love munching on this tasty treat from the folks at SawMill Creek. Dried bits of pig have never tasted this good before! The pig ear is slow dried, which produces a super-tough, super-tasty treat for your pup. This is all natural and gluten free. My dogs don’t actually get to eat the chews since I worry about them choking and it’s just way too big for Bella (she’d probably eat the whole thing in one sitting).

    THE VALUE

The value of this month’s box is $33 which is less than last months’ box.  For the $21 I pay per month, I thought that the value was a little low this time around. I still love the box and there are a lot of positives to the box: Bella and Kodiak get to try out new treats, Bella gets to destroy a new toy every month, and I don’t have to go to the pet store for any of that! It’s literally a win-win for all of us so I will continue to subscribe to my box!

The box automatically renews each month, but it’s super easy to cancel at any time. Like I mentioned above, a monthly box is $29, but if your go for a longer subscription, the price goes as low as $21/month (this is what I have).

If y’all subscribe the box what were y’alls thoughts on the content this month? If you want to learn more about the box you can click here and read all about it. If you want to subscribe, you can use my referral link here.

  • BARKBOX – JULY

    BARKBOX – JULY

Happy Wednesday y’all! I only have one work day left this week and I plan on crafting this Friday so check out my insta stories to see what I’m going to be up to! Ok though, enough about what I’m going to do in two days, let’s talk about the box I’m going to be reviewing today.

This is the second Barkbox in my subscription and I have to admit that I’m still loving this box and Bella loves it even more since it’s for her! For what you get in the box each month, the $21 I pay is worth it.

Here is a BREAKDOWN of the goodies in my box:

Squeak Me Sweet Treat – Value = $8.00

Bella got the small size in her box, but you could buy the larger size for just $2 more than the small. This toy is super cute and filled with squeakers and fluff, but typical Bella has already chewed the cherry off the top! She really enjoys this toy and it’s become one of her favorites to bring to me to throw for her. Last night I caught her rolling around with it in her mouth…talk about cuteness overload!

Squeakle Dee and Squeakle Dum – Value = $10.00

Packed with fluff and… oh dear! We’ve begun wrong. The first thing in a visit is to say “How d’ye do?” Built with a spiky ball base, this BARK original has a gregarious squeak and provides a bonus toy hidden inside when your pup chews through the notorious tweedle twins. It’s a two sided toy, so one side is blue while the other is red. I’m holding off on giving this one to Bella since she still has few toys that she hasn’t completely eaten!

My Doggy Beef and Potato Treats – Value = $7.00

Made in the USA without any wheat by our friends at My Doggy, they are as nutritious as they are delicious. These are a great size for training or to give as a snack. They are bite sized and perfect for throwing a few in your pocket or purse for when you and your pup are out! Being the piggy that she is, Bella loves these and they’re perfect sized for a small snack for her.

Integrity Treats Lola’s Lamb Jerky –Value = $6.00

Forget the chops, lamb jerky is where it’s at. Made in the USA without corn or soy! These are currently sold out on the barkbox website. These treats were a BIG hit both dogs this month! I’ve been breaking them in half and giving each dog only half at a time.

    Lola's

Rabbit Chew –Retail Value = $3.00

Got a picky chewer on your paws? Rabbit Chews are a palate pleaser. Made in the USA, these chews are easily digestible and great for teeth and gums. My dogs don’t actually get to eat the chews since I worry about them choking and it’s just way too big for Bella (she’d probably eat the whole thing in one sitting).

  • New Subscription: BARKBOX

    New Subscription: BARKBOX

Happy July 1st!! It’s officially the start of my birthday month today, so to kick it off I’m going to tell y’all about the new box I’ve subscribed to! Along with the Ring Boxes subscription that I just started, I also signed up for BARKBOX!! I decided that my sweet babygirl, Bella, was ready to start getting a subscription box of her own.

I came across a promo for a $5 box and that was too good of a deal to pass up. I ended up signing my puppy up for the 12 month box because in the end the pricing was better and she deserves to get new toys every month (by the time we get a new box, the toys will be eaten).

This was my first time getting the box and the theme was: #POOYORKCITY

Here is a BREAKDOWN of the goodies in my box:

    1. Butcher’s Block Bones 6” Krunchie Trachea – Value = $3.00

A delicious, 100% quality beef treat from Omaha, Nebraska. Made in the USA and is made from USDA inspected meat. These treats are low fat and all natural. I felt that that was a little large for my Bella so this went straight to my brother’s dog, a Shar-Pei/Lab mix we got from the shelter. This special treat also comes in a 9” version. Kodiak, my brother’s dog absolutely loved this and is still working on it.

    1. No Grainers NYC Jerky Chews in Roasted Duck – Value = $8.00

Made in the USA and gluten free (if you’re into that for your dog). As soon as I opened the bag, Bella was all up in my business trying to see what I was going to give her. Kodiak loved these too and he’s pretty picky about what kind of treats he’ll eat!

    grainers

    1. Lady Liberty Ball (Small) – Value = $8.00

Who doesn’t love a little Lady Liberty in their lives? I mean how much more New York can you get? This is a spiky ball covered in durable plush with a squeaker in the middle. My girl Bella has already chewed about half of the crown off of Lady, so I had to hide it from her for a while (she really has problem with toys). This also comes in a larger size for a bigger dog.

    1. Best Treats Ever: Turkey & Duck StripsValue = $7.00

These succulent strips are entirely farmed and made in the USA. They are all natural and gluten free. You can buy them in nugget form for your smaller dog. I got the strips in my box, but I ripped the treat in half and gave each half to the dogs. They both devoured it as though they hadn’t seen food in weeks (not true, they both eat 2 meals daily).

    1. Andi’s Famous Plush Dumplings Retail Value = $16.00

Chinese takeout for your dog!!! These are a Bark & Co Original and each of the 3 smiling plush dumpling toys is stuffed with a sturdy squeaker. They are delivered in a plush, crinkly carryout carton. I’m a little afraid to give this to Bella since I know that the moment I turn my back all 3 dumplings will disappear.

    THE VALUE

The value of this month’s box is $42. Since I got this box as a promo, it was only $5. For the price of my box this month, I thought it was a really great value. Bella and Kodiak get to try out new treats, Bella gets to destroy a new toy every month, and I don’t have to go to the pet store for any of that! It’s literally a win-win for all of us!
