Hey y’all, so a year ago today I started this blog pretty much on a whim, I liked to write and thought how hard could blogging be? Little did I know, it’s a lot harder than it looks. I started this blog in hopes of sharing my thoughts and ideas with you, but if I’m being completely honest I haven’t done the best job with sharing about my personal life.
SO with that being said, this year I want to get deeper with y’all and not be afraid to share my daily life or my personal thoughts. I still want to post about whatever subscriptions I happen to be getting in the mail, but they might change a little with my upcoming wedding and wanting to save money where I can. I’ve also made some other big, life purchases so now I have to sit and take a look and decide which subscriptions are worth keeping and which just aren’t really doing it for me anymore (there may even be a new one in there this month).
There are so many big changes going on in my life in the next year that I want to be able to share them with everyone. I am going to try and post at least once a week, if not more. I know in my head that I can be very creative and I need to learn to set a little more time aside to do something that makes me happy once I get home from work.
I know for a fact that there will be a special post in July (a follow up post) on all the things I said I wanted to do before I turned 25 (I had made a list of things I absolutely wanted to do before I turned a quarter, so let’s see how well I did with that!) and possibly a list of things to do for before I turn 26.
With all that being said, I hope you continue to follow me on this journey that I’m calling life. I try and live my life to the fullest and appreciate everything that I have and everything that I have worked hard to achieve so far. I’m proud of what I do and of who I am and I honestly hope y’all enjoy it too!
Happy Holidays y’all!! I can’t believe that 2017 is literally right around the corner! It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the start of 2016.
This past year has been full of big things and changes for me. As of last December, I was officially done with college and got my Bachelor’s Degree in in Marketing. This was huge for me since it had taken longer than anticipated and finished in a completely different place than where I had started (let’s just say I’m glad to be done with school for now!).
Earned my BS in Marketing
In February, I went on an amazing trip with my then BF (now my fiance) to Chicago and New York. We spent Valentine’s Day in the city and it could not have been more perfect! It was VERY cold while we were there, but so worth it for these 2 California kids. I loved the fact that I got to explore these 2 fabulous cities with my favorite person! This was our first real trip as a couple (even though we’d been going out for 4 years already) and as soon as we got back I couldn’t wait to start thinking about where we would go next. I know that I want to travel to as many different places with my Mr. right by my side!
Bean there, done that in Chicago

In July, I was offered a full time job with the company that I had been an intern with. It was a big step and honestly, I wasn’t sure I was ready for such a big commitment, but I have been here 6 months now and I am starting to see the big picture of things. This is a great starter job that allows me to grow within and there are tons of perks that my other friends don’t have in their jobs! I know that I won’t be in this particular title forever, but you have to start somewhere, right?
Just another day on the job
In September, the BF and went out to Palm Springs as the last hoorah for the end of summer. We got to enjoy some great weather with a fabulous dinner and drinks right at the hotel! It was a great little overnight trip, although I wish we could have stayed longer!
Soaking up the sun in Palm Springs
I also started coaching the cheer team at a local private school where I live. It’s a great little side job and I absolutely love cheering! This position allows me to still be in the sport that I loved doing for so many years, but now hopefully I can make a lasting impression on the girls I coach. I can’t wait for their competition season to start up in January!
In October, I celebrated my 5 year anniversary with the BF (of course I was still wondering when he’d propose). This was a huge milestone as it is half of a decade! It’s crazy to look back on how far your relationship with one person has grown and evolved over time and it makes you appreciate the little things that make you love this person.
Enjoying a nice dinner with my love
Finally in November, BF proposed to me and made me the luckiest girl in the whole world! I’ve known since the day I laid eyes on him that he was the one and now my dreams are becoming my reality. I get to marry my best friend and spend the rest of my life with him. The planning is already underway and I can’t wait to keep y’all updated!
Literally the best day of my life!!!
Later in November, we took a trip to Seattle to see one of my college friends. We had never been to Seattle before so it was really cool that we both got to experience it for the first time together. We did all of the normally touristy things, got to see/experience real fall wether and even went to a UW game. I personally would love to go back in the summer and take advantage of lake activities.

Last but not least, in December we had to let our Disneyland passes expire which was sad for both of us. When we lived closer to the park, we would go ALL the time, but now with both of us in full time jobs and not living near there anymore it became too hard to get out there and take full advantage of having a pass. I know that one day we’ll get passes again, but until then I guess we’ll just put the money for a pass towards the wedding.
Last Disney day for a while
All in all, 2016 was a pretty darn good year for me, but I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for me and the Mr. I already know it will be jam packed with all kinds of wedding planning and, more likely than not, some sort of house hunting. It’s going to be a crazy year, but I wouldn’t trade this adventure for anything!
Happy Sunday y’all! I hope you’re out there having brunch and sipping on mimosas!
As you all know, I got engaged in November and I said that I would post about my adventures of wedding planning. I’ve said from the beginning that I didn’t want a Wedding Planner because I don’t want someone to come in and change all of my ideas, plus I’m controlling and like to be in charge at all times!
Yesterday Mr. Fiancé and I went with my parents to check out a venue that I’ve had my eye on for probably a year now. It’s basically an empty warehouse, but with the right touches it would be perfect for the country rustic theme we want. When we left there everyone but me was a little less than thrilled about the venue. Of course I was heartbroken because this is what I’ve wanted for so long that I really hadn’t looked at any other venue.
Here is what the space looked like on our walk-through
Once I calmed down enough and actually talked about it, I did realize that there were a few flaws in the place that I’ve worked up so much in my head. For starters, the lady that we met with didn’t have a portfolio of prior events that have been held there, something that might show what the space looked like all done up since, like I mentioned before, it’s literally an empty space. There were a few other things that once I thought about it didn’t like either:
They have these support poles that are half painted yellow (you can have white drapes put on them)
There is no private bridal room
There is no on-sight kitchen (everything has to be catered)
There is no separation from the cocktail hour space to the dinning space (I know this might seem silly to some people)
You also have to bring in your own dance floor and extra lighting
Here are some pictures of how beautiful the venue looks when it is all done up and is exactly the reason I want to have my reception here! In my opinion, it is just so different than other weddings I’ve been to.
This is a photo of what that same space looks like done up for a wedding! Isn’t is just so beautiful though?
I absolutely love this bar area! It fits perfectly with the theme we are trying to obtain!
That being said, I will be open minded and start looking at my other options but I know that I don’t want to compromise so much that it’s no longer the wedding that I’ve always envisioned for me and Mr.
